Lunging & Long Reining Demonstration

4th April 2005

The Equine Centre at Sparsholt College, near Winchester, was the venue for a demonstration by Robert Pickles FBHS on Monday 4 April.  Using a selection of horses provided by the College and the volunteers, we were again treated to a very informative and enjoyable session by Robert.  Many tips were given on equipment and handling horses, some of which were not too keen on being lunged!

The demonstration was followed on Sunday 8 May by a clinic, where owners could bring and lunge their own horses.  Robert was on hand to give them individual tuition on how to improve their techniques and increase their confidence.  This was another useful training session and one we will be repeating again in the future.

Get your horse Fit- for work or play!

25th Feb 2005

The final lecture of the 2004/5 series took place on Friday 25 February at Dummer Village Hall.  Well done to everyone who braved the snow and turned up!  They were rewarded for their efforts, by a thoroughly enjoyable evening.  The session commenced with a talk by Maggie Patterson from On The Hoof who are dedicated to training riders to get the most from their horses - no matter what their discipline.  This was followed by a very informative session by vet, Andrew  Kennedy from Stable Close Equine Hospital, based at Martyr Worthy near Winchester.

The evening concluded with Andrew and Maggie hosting a lively question and answer session. The topics covered included heart rate, worming, shoeing, tack and blood tests!
